We are seeking a Freight Brokerage Manager with strong logistics, brokerage, and transportation experience to lead and expand freight operations. This role offers the chance to make a major impact, build customer relationships, negotiate carrier rates, and drive strategic growth within the brokerage division.


Position Overview

The Freight Brokerage Manager will oversee daily brokerage operations, manage carrier and customer relationships, and ensure efficient transportation planning across multiple freight modes. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong leadership, communication, and analytical abilities.

You'll manage pricing, performance metrics, TMS/EDI platforms, and freight solutions while partnering closely with sales to grow the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the freight brokerage division, including account management and carrier relations.
  • Develop and execute strategies for transportation management, logistics sales, and supply chain optimization.
  • Build strong customer relationships through consistent communication and service excellence.
  • Negotiate spot rates, contracts, and service agreements with carriers, customers, and 3PL providers.
  • Manage and utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and EDI platforms for dispatching, data entry, and freight tracking.
  • Coordinate additional freight forwarding needs, including LTL, accelerated 3-5 day service, white glove deliveries, and air freight.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including FDA requirements when relevant.
  • Optimize routing, reduce transportation costs, and enhance delivery performance.
  • Analyze market trends to develop pricing strategies for freight services.
  • Track and improve KPIs related to logistics efficiency, carrier performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with sales to help secure and onboard new customers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in freight brokerage, supply chain management, logistics sales, or transportation management.
  • Strong knowledge of TMS platforms, EDI systems, and dispatching tools.
  • Demonstrated skill in negotiation, contract development, and carrier/account management.
  • Familiarity with 3PL operations and freight forwarding processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with a focus on customer relationship management and inside sales.
  • Ability to analyze data for pricing, forecasting, and operational improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Proactive leader capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed, service-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis strongly preferred.
